The MIM Strats come with a satin finish that some say doesn't project as good as nitrocellulose, because of it's thickness. Overall, the feel is great with these over the border noise makers.
During the early nineties, the Mexican Stratocasters had thinner necks and smaller frets, which made playing fast and friendly for more advanced players. Some complained that their hands were not "full" enough. Also, some said that the thin necks would weaken over time. I sold hundreds of Mexys and I can say that this is absurd. Those necks are great and holding fine. It's very seldom that I find a Mexy neck that needs adjusting.... less than 5 percent. In fact, those thin, skinny necks very rarely have relief issues at all(up to 97' models). But as far as the feel goes, well that's all up to individual preferences. Small hands can really appreciate those older ones. Your hand may stay stronger for longer in the 12 bar blues progression. I know that my pinky finger does..... broke it years ago... and now I have lost 10% dexterity.
The modern C shape came into play in the late 2001 and has stuck. It's a more direct descendant of the original 50's, 60's Strat.
You can buy this mint 08 model Mexican Stratocaster for 399.00.
